Most Yono players meet KYC (know your customer) at the worst moment: when they try to withdraw. A form asks for a PAN card and a selfie, the withdrawal waits, and sometimes the verification bounces back as rejected.

This guide explains what Yono apps usually ask for, how to get it approved the first time, why rejections happen, and how to limit the personal data you hand to an operator that no Indian regulator oversees.

When Yono Apps Ask for KYC

KYC rules are set by each operator, and they change. Across the apps in our directory, you will see two common patterns: a one-time check at your first withdrawal, or a check only once withdrawals pass a threshold, commonly around ₹10,000. Yono 777, for example, lists KYC-free withdrawals under ₹10,000 with a one-time PAN check above that.

Whatever the trigger, the check exists to match the person withdrawing with the bank account receiving the money, and to deduct tax correctly. That is why the name on every document matters so much.

Documents You May Be Asked For

DocumentUsually needed?Tips
PAN cardYesName and date of birth must match your profile exactly
SelfieOftenPlain background, good light, face fully visible, no filters
Bank account / UPI IDYesMust be in your own name, the same name as your PAN
AadhaarSometimesUse a masked Aadhaar from UIDAI, which shows only the last four digits

Step-by-Step Verification

  1. Open the app’s Profile or Wallet screen and look for KYC or Verify.
  2. Check that the name in your profile matches your PAN card exactly, including spelling and initials. Fix it before uploading anything.
  3. Photograph your PAN on a dark, plain surface with all four corners visible and no glare across the text.
  4. Take the selfie in daylight or bright indoor light, holding the phone at eye level.
  5. Add a bank account or UPI ID in the same name as your PAN.
  6. Submit and wait. Approval usually takes from a few minutes to a few hours. Do not submit again while it is pending, as duplicates can slow it down.

Why KYC Gets Rejected (and the Fix)

  • Blurry or glared photo: retake it in better light, with the card flat and fully in frame.
  • Name mismatch: your profile, PAN and bank account must show the same name. A bank account in a family member’s name is the most common cause of rejected payouts.
  • Date of birth mismatch: correct the date in your profile to match the PAN.
  • Cropped card: all four corners of the PAN must be visible.
  • Someone else’s documents: apps check for PANs already used on another account. Using a friend’s PAN gets both accounts frozen.
  • More than one account: multiple accounts on the same device or PAN are treated as bonus abuse and can block verification entirely.

Protecting Your Data

KYC means handing identity documents to a real-money gaming operator that no Indian regulator supervises. Think about that before you upload, and keep the risk as low as you can:

  • Upload only inside the app, never by WhatsApp, Telegram or email to someone who says they are support or an agent.
  • Use a masked Aadhaar wherever Aadhaar is accepted.
  • Never share an OTP, UPI PIN or card PIN. No KYC process needs them.
  • Watch for loan or payment messages you did not expect after uploading documents, and report misuse on cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930.

KYC and Tax

Your PAN is also how tax is handled. Section 194BA of the Income Tax Act requires 30% TDS on net winnings from online games, deducted from the payout itself. Nobody should ever ask you to pay tax upfront to release a withdrawal. That is a scam. See the tax section of our legal guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KYC required for Yono game withdrawal?

Usually, at some point. Some apps ask at the first withdrawal and others only once withdrawals pass a threshold, commonly around ₹10,000. You will typically need a PAN card, a selfie and a bank account or UPI ID in your own name.

Why was my Yono KYC rejected?

The most common reasons are a blurry or cropped PAN photo, a name or date of birth that does not match your profile, or a bank account in someone else’s name. Correct the mismatch, retake the photos in good light and submit once.

Can I use someone else’s bank account for Yono withdrawal?

No. The bank account or UPI ID must be in the same name as your PAN and profile. Payouts to other people’s accounts are rejected, and they can get your account frozen.

Is it safe to upload Aadhaar to a Yono app?

Share as little as possible. If Aadhaar is required, use a masked Aadhaar from UIDAI, which hides all but the last four digits, and upload only inside the app, never over WhatsApp or Telegram.
