Why Yono Apps Need Updating

Operators update their apps to fix bugs, add games, move to new servers and change payment routes. Because the apps are not on the Play Store, updates arrive in one of two ways: a prompt inside the app, or a new APK on the operator’s download page.

Old versions do not keep working for ever. When an operator moves its servers or payment gateway, older builds often fail at login or at the withdrawal screen. If an app that worked yesterday suddenly will not connect, an outdated version is one of the first things to check.

Check Which Version You Have

On your phone, open Settings → Apps, choose the Yono app, and scroll to the bottom of the App info page, where the version number is shown. Some apps also show it in their own settings or “About” screen. Compare it with the current version we list:

Before You Update: Bind Your Mobile Number

Many Yono apps let you start as a Guest. A guest account is tied to that installation on that phone. If you uninstall the app, or Android forces a clean reinstall, the guest account and anything in it can be lost.

Before updating, open your profile and link your 10-digit mobile number with OTP. This is the same step that usually unlocks the ₹51 sign-up credit, so most players have already done it. Once it is linked, your balance follows your number to any install on any phone.

Method 1: Update From Inside the App

1. Open the app. If an update is available, it usually shows a prompt as soon as the lobby loads.
2. Tap Update. The app downloads the new APK in the background.
3. Android shows the installer. Tap Update (or Install) and wait a few seconds.
4. Open the app again and log in with your mobile number if it asks.

If the update prompt loops, or the in-app download keeps failing, use Method 2.

Method 2: Install the New APK Over the Old One

1. Open the game’s page in our Yono games list and tap Download APK. If the download misbehaves, see Yono download not working.
2. Open the downloaded file. Android recognises it as a newer version of an installed app and offers Update instead of Install.
3. Tap Update. Your login and settings stay in place.
4. If Android says “App not installed as package conflicts with an existing package”, the new file was signed differently from the old one. Check your number is bound (see above), uninstall the old app, then install the new APK and log in.

Update Errors and Fixes

• “App not installed”: usually low storage. Free space equal to about three times the APK size and try again.
• “There was a problem parsing the package”: the download is incomplete. Delete it and download again on a stable connection.
• The app still shows the old version: you opened an older APK from your Downloads folder. Delete old APK files so you install the newest one.
• Balance looks wrong after updating: log out and back in with your number, then pull to refresh the wallet. If it is still wrong, raise a ticket in the app with a screenshot.

Should You Ever Install an Old Version?

Almost never. Old builds miss security fixes, often fail at login, and “old version” downloads are a favourite disguise for tampered APKs. The same applies to “mod” or “hack” versions that promise unlimited coins: the balance is on the server, so a modified app cannot create money, but it can steal your OTPs.
